A SAP consultant, or a consultant in systems, applications, and products in data processing, specializes in software and programs. They analyze organizational needs, pinpoint primary objectives or challenges, and recommend SAP-based solutions. They provide troubleshooting and tech support services and may create user guides or other support materials and documentation.

How to become a SAP Consultant?

To become a SAP Consultant:

  • Learn the basics of business knowledge: SAP is an enterprise resource planning software. The aim of SAP is to adopt complex business functionalities to produce internal and external reporting of an organization. To adopt this, we need business experts of different areas, such as Finance and Controlling, Sales and Distribution, Material Management, Production and Planning. On the other hand, we need SAP ABAP developer and SAP Fiori / Business Technology Platform (BTP) Developer as well.
  • Enroll in a Bachelor or Master‘s Degree: To develop your business working knowledge or to improve coding skills further, consider enrolling in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in a related field.
  • Seek an apprenticeship: Some aspiring functional consultants or developers seek an apprenticeship to support their education or provide them with additional training. Apprentices often learn from an industry expert, how to transform business requirements into functional specifications and hand it over to developer team to code.
  • Gain relevant experience: After learning or enhancing functional or technical know-how in SAP by yourself, internships and entry-level positions can provide you with valuable on-the-job experience.
